Nellie Mae (Cessna) Livengood

Nellie Mae Livengood, 99 of Bedford, died Sunday, September 8, 2019.  She was born on November 29, 1919, in Rainsburg a daughter of the late Chester Daniel and Cora Ellen (Perdew) Cessna.  On September 4, 1940 in Cumberland, MD she married Paul Vernon Livengood, who preceded her in death on February 12, 2013.  She is survived by the following family: a daughter Linda Brown, and a son Dr. John P. Livengood and wife Rose, both of Bedford; two grandchildren: Juli Gonsman and husband Jim and Travis Livengood and wife Julie both of Bedford; five great-grandchildren: Jacob Paul and Jordan Benjamin Dull, Sadie Madison, Grey Hamilton, and Harper Jay Livengood; three sisters:  Mary Emma Van Derlyn of Brewster, NY, Nancy Ritchey of Carlisle, and Peg Weaverling of Bedford; four brothers:  Ron Cessna of Michigan, Dan Cessna,  Jerry Cessna, and Tom Cessna, all of Bedford.  She was preceded in death by two sisters:  Ruth Cessna Miller and Jane Cessna; four brothers:  Benny, Robert, Bill, and James Cessna.

Nellie was a graduate of Bedford High School.  She loved family gatherings, baking, cooking, reading, traveling, and her rose garden.  She was active in her community volunteering in church activities and 4-H leadership.  She and her husband Paul lived on a dairy farm and were members of the Friends Cove United Church of Christ, and the antique car club.  Later they owned and operated the Livengood Market in Reynoldsdale. She will be remembered by her family as a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother.

Funeral Service will be held on Thursday, September 12, 2019 at 11:00 a.m. in the Chapel at the Timothy A. Berkebile Funeral Home in Bedford with Pastor Brady Plummer and Pastor Paul Claycomb officiating.  Burial will be private.  Friends will be received on Wednesday, from 5 - 8 p.m. at the funeral home and one hour prior to the service on Thursday.
