Nancye graduated from the University of Maryland in 1958 with a bachelor’s degree in Education.  Immediately following graduation, she accepted a position working in the computer department at the Alleghany Ballistic Laboratories located in West Virginia.  Shortly after accepting this position, she was offered a job teaching third grade just outside of Washington, DC.  Because of her love of working with children, Nancye began her teaching career at Mt. Rainer.  Not long after, Nancye moved to Orlando, Florida to be closer to her fiancé, Larry, and began her career at Pine Castle Elementary.  Nancye went on to serve Pine Castle and the thousands of children that came through its doors for the next 36 years retiring in December 1994.  During her years of teaching, Nancye continued her own education at Rollins College earning a master’s degree in Teaching in 1964.  While at Pine Castle, Nancye served as the Curriculum Resource Teacher for her last 20 years in public education.  Even after retirement, Nancye continued to serve her local community by working as a substitute teacher and teacher’s aide at Pine Castle Elementary.

Nancye and her husband of 61 years, Larry, were members of Pine Castle United Methodist Church for over 50 years.  Nancye was very active with her women’s church circle, the Pine Castle Women’s Club and the Pine Castle Garden Club until her health prevented her from joining her friends on a regular basis. Nancye was also a member of the Pi Beta Phi sorority and once served as president of its Winter Park Alumni Association.

Due to the ongoing global pandemic, a family only service will be held in Bedford, Pennsylvania on Saturday, December 12, 2020.  Nancye will be laid to rest next to her beloved husband, Larry, at the Hyndman Cemetery in Hyndman, Pennsylvania immediately following the private service.  Pallbearers are Matthew Ady, Andrew Ady, Danielle Adams, Christian Adams, Chandler Adams and John Adams.
