Nancy M. Buterbaugh

Nancy Mae Buterbaugh, 95 of Pennknoll Village, died, Tuesday, December 22, 2009 at the home.  She was born August 28, 1914, in Windber, daughter of the late Owen W. and Grace (Kough) Hughes. On July 8, 1937 in Johnstown, she married E. Ernest Buterbaugh, and he preceded her in death on November 19, 2000.  She is survived by three sons: Owen E. Buterbaugh, married to the former Karen Imler of Fishertown, R. Neal Buterbaugh, married to the former Linda Cover of Bedford, and Kim Buterbaugh, married to the former Sharon Miller of Hollidaysburg, ten grandchildren: Paula wife of Brian Henry, Daniel and David Buterbaugh, Brian Buterbaugh and wife Mary, Bruce Buterbaugh and wife Ellen, Justin Buterbaugh and wife Jill, Melinda wife of Jeffrey Weicht, Chad Buterbaugh, Johanna wife of Chris Kelly and Jerrod Buterbaugh and wife Kandice.  Also surviving are 13 great grandchildren and three step-great-grandchildren and a sister Ann L. Cable of Piney Point, FL.  She was preceded in death by a brother Thomas, and a daughter-in-law Jean (Shoemaker) Buterbaugh.

Nancy was a graduate of Johnstown High School and a 1936 graduate of Indiana Normal School/IUP.  She was a school teacher, retiring from the Chestnut Ridge School District and prior to that taught in the Bedford School District. She was a member of the Bedford United Methodist Church, the Bedford County Retired Teachers Assoc. and the Pennsylvania Retired Teachers Assoc.

Funeral Services: Monday, December 28, 2009 at 12:00 noon, in the chapel at Timothy A. Berkebile Funeral Home in Bedford, with Rev. Jeff Welsch officiating.  Burial at Bedford County Memorial Park.  Friends will be received on Monday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service at the funeral home.
