Mildred B. Wertz

Mildred B. Wertz, 96, passed away on April 14, 2011, at Pennknoll Village, where she had resided since July 2010. She was born August 24, 1914 in Cumberland Valley, the daughter of the late Walter W. and Effie (Oster) Wertz. Surviving is a sister, Verna W. Wolfe of Bedford. Mildred was preceded in death by five brothers: Homer, Raymond, John, William, Ward and one sister, Faye Shaffer.
Mildred graduated from Bedford High School, Class of 1932. She was associated with her brother, Homer, in the Wertz Insurance Agency for many years and retired from the insurance business in 1976.
She was a lifelong and faithful member of Providence Lutheran Church, formerly Bortz Lutheran Church. At the deceased’s request, any memorial gifts may be made to Providence Lutheran Church, c/o Mrs. Mervyn Rose, 7737 Bedford Valley Road, Bedford, Pa, 15522
A memorial service will be held on Monday, April 18, 2011 at 11:00 a.m. at the Timothy A. Berkebile Funeral Home in Bedford with The Rev. John K. Timm officiating.
