Mildred A. Clapper, 85, of Koontz Road, Everett, died Sunday, October 19, 2014 at UPMC Bedford Memorial Hospital. She was born on August 12, 1929, in Sandy Creek, a daughter of the late John F. and Sarah A. (Good) Baker. On December 1, 1950, in Wilkinsburg, she married Robert M. Clapper and he preceded her in death on July 25, 1979. She is survived by the following family: a daughter, Margaret "Peg" wife of Walter E. Hess of Everett, a son, Melvin C. Clapper, married to the former, Suzann “Suzie” Smith of Everett, five grandchildren: Ronn, Angel, and Brian Hess and wife Michelle, Julie wife of Jeremy Fockler, and Lucas Clapper; ten great-grandchildren: Camron and Macy Sheeder, Dakota, Krysta, and Brittany Hess, Jaiden, Jaimen, and Jovi Fockler, Abby, and Issac Clapper; a brother, Robert W. Baker, and wife Gloria of North Huntingdon, PA; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by a great-grandson, David Alex Hess; three brothers: John, Dutch, and Dave Baker, and a sister, Elizabeth Frazier.
Mildred was a member of the Everett Church of God. She worked as a LPN for UPMC Shadyside Hospital in Pittsburgh, and then in the cafeteria at Everett Area Elementary School. For over ten years she was a caregiver to many people in the Everett area. She then retired to live with her son and daughter-in-law, in Everett.
A Memorial Service will be held on Wednesday, October 22, 2014, at 11:00 a.m., in the Chapel, at the Timothy A. Berkebile Funeral Home, in Bedford, with Pastor John Kisner, officiating.
