Meredith Joseph Feathers

Meredith Joseph Feathers, 77 of E. Penn Street, Bedford, died Saturday, November 12, 2016 at his residence.  He was born on November 2, 1939 in Fishertown, a son of the late Chester Blair and Alice Ruth (Miller) Feathers.  He is survived by his twin sister, M. Joan Beegle, of Bedford, and numerous nieces and nephews.  He was preceded in death by six brothers: Dale, Ted, Don, Bill, Alden, and Wayne Feathers; and two sisters: Jeanne and Mary Ann.

Joe was a 1957 graduate of Chestnut Ridge High School, and then went on to serve in the Air Force from 1958 to 1963, earning an Honorable Discharge at the rank of Airman First Class.  During his military service he was stationed in Washington D.C., and Japan, and took up his hobby of motorcycle racing.    After his discharge Joe was employed as an assistant manager of the document department for the U.S. Senate, and also received his airplane pilot’s license.  He was a member of the Bedford Lodge #320 FA&M, Bedford American Legion Post #113, and enjoyed golfing, traveling, Pirate Baseball, and watching his favorite NASCAR driver Jeff Gordon.  He was a wonderful brother and uncle, and will be greatly missed.

Funeral Services will be held on Wednesday, November 16, 2016 at 2:00 p.m., in the Chapel, at the Timothy A. Berkebile Funeral Home, in Bedford, with Pastor Dale Dibernardi officiating.  Burial at Fishertown Cemetery with full military rites performed by the Fort Bedford Honor Guard.  Friends will be received on Tuesday from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m., at the funeral home, and two hours prior to the service on Wednesday.  Our online guestbook is available at www.berkebilefuneralhome.com
