Mary Reta Trieber

Mary Reta Trieber, 87 of Bedford, went to be with her Lord and Savior on Sunday, November 15, 2009. She as born on September 7, 1922 in Rainsburg, daughter of the late

Ruth (Cessna) James and Emory Clayton Nycum.

Mary-Reta was a 1940 graduate of Bedford High School and a 1943 graduate of Sibley Memorial Nursing School in Washington, D.C.  She was a member of the Bedford United Methodist Church.

She was preceded in death by her first husband, Flight Officer Max L. Hunt, killed in action in Germany on March 24, 1945, and by her second husband, Delphin E. Trieber, who died October 28, 1995.  Also preceded in death by on sister, Kathryn Nycum Piper and one brother, Billie Cessna Nycum.

Mary-Reta is survived by one loving daughter, Josephine Hunt, Orlando, FL, one brother, David H. James, of Bedford County, and many dear nieces, nephews and cousins.  Mary-Reta was known for sending greeting cards and notes for birthdays and other occasions, and for visiting shut-ins and ill friends and family.  She also actively and discretely supported many civic and Christian organizations.

The family would like to acknowledge the attention and kindnesses of staff and volunteers of AseraCare Hospice and of Bedford Colonial Courtyard.

Funeral Services: Thursday, November 19, 2009 at 11:00 a.m. in the Chapel at Timothy A. Berkebile Funeral Home in Bedford with Rev. Paul Claycomb officiating.  Burial at Rose Hill Cemetery in Cumberland, MD.  Friends will be received on Wednesday from 2-4 & 7-9 p.m. and a half hour prior to the service on Thursday at the funeral home.  Those who wish, may make contributions in Mary-Reta’s name to AseraCare Hospice, MADD, or Billy Graham Evangelistic Association.
