Mary Joan (Mcguinn) Smith

Mary Joan Smith 93, of Meyersdale, formerly of Bedford, died on Saturday, June 5, 2021.  She was born on May 18, 1928 in Johnstown, a daughter of the late Leo and Mary (Hornick) McGuinn.  She was married to Edward J. Smith who preceded her in death on May 24, 1994.  She is survived by two sons: Thomas E. Smith and wife Mary, of Pittsburgh, and Mark R. Smith widower of Holly, of Bedford; a daughter Kathleen S. Bell and husband Douglas, of Berlin; five grandchildren: Mark Smith and wife Elizabeth, Julie Stimmel and husband Ryan, Sean Smith and wife Jillian, Brooke Smith and companion Eric Harbaugh, and David E. Bell; and numerous great-grandchildren.  She was preceded in death by three brothers: Dick McGuinn widow Bernice “Neicy” surviving of Virginia, and Frank and Tom McGuinn.

Joan was a graduate of Greater Johnstown High School, and Cambria Rowe Business College.  She was the co-owner with her husband Ed of S&S Appliances and Ed’s Pizza and Sub Shop on mile level.  She was a member of the St. Thomas Catholic Church in Bedford and BPW group.

Funeral services will be private.  At the request of the family please celebrate her life as they are with the loving memories of her and your friendship with members of her family.
