Mary Elizabeth "Liz" Shoemaker

Mary Elizabeth “Liz” Shoemaker, 85, of Diehl Road, Bedford, died Tuesday, February 9, 2016 at Bedford Colonial Courtyard. She was born on July 24, 1930, in Bedford, a daughter of the late Luther and Mabel (Mortimore) Boor. On December 10, 1948, in Bedford, she married John Eugene “Gene” Shoemaker who survives along with a daughter, Linda McCauley and husband William, of York, a grandson, Edward McCauley and wife Rebekah, of York, two great-grandchildren: Preston and Ella McCauley, a brother, Paul M. Boor and wife Irma, of Milton, FL, a sister, Sharon Gardner and husband Joseph, of New Paris, a sister-in-law, Betty Wrightsman of Windber, and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by two brothers: Robert E. Wrightsman and William L. Boor.
Liz was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and sister. She helped with the family dairy farm including milking dairy cows, and with the family school bus business. She also enjoyed doing needlework in her spare time.
Funeral Services will be held on Friday, February 12, 2016, at 11:00 a.m., in the Chapel, at the Timothy A. Berkebile Funeral Home, in Bedford, with Rev. Paul Claycomb officiating. Burial will be private. Friends will be received on Friday, from 10:00 a.m. until the hour of the service at the funeral home.
