Mary E. Kagarise

Mary E. “Betty” Kagarise, 83, of  Centennial Road, Bedford, died Sunday, December 19, 2010 at Donahoe Manor Nursing Home.  She was born on March 3, 1927, in Everett, a daughter of the late George and Elsie (Jay) Miller.  On October 6, 1954, she married O. Eugene “Gene” Kagarise and he preceded her in death on August 5, 1988.  She is survived by a son Matthew C. Kagarise, married to the former Pam Seibert of Bedford, two daughters, Rebecca Kagarise, and Martha L. Kagarise both of Bedford, six grandchildren:  Daniel, Andrew, and Gena Kagarise, Katie, Nicholas, and Benjamin Redmond, a brother, Joseph Miller of North Ft. Myers, FL, and a sister, Doris Price of York.  She was preceded in death by one son David Kagarise, husband of Freda (Mallow) Kagarise of Bedford, who survives, two brothers; Stanley and Irvin "June" Wolford, two sisters; Grace Miller Hott and Ruth Miller.

She was a member of Trans Run United Methodist Church. She was retired from the Bedford Extension Office and prior to that had worked as a secretary for Dr. Hoffman.

Funeral Services will be held on Wednesday, December 22, 2010, at 11:00 a.m., in the Chapel at Timothy A. Berkebile Funeral Home, in Bedford with the Rev. Vickie Jordan officiating.   Burial at Woods Church Cemetery.  Friends will be received on Tuesday from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. at the funeral home, and 1 hour prior to the service on Wednesday morning.  In lieu of flowers contributions can be made to Trans Run United Methodist Church, c/o Linda Whetstone, 137, Durham Road, Bedford, PA 15522.
