Mary "Martha" (Holderbaum) Cessna

Mary “Martha” Cessna, 76, of Centerville, lost her battle with an extended illness on Tuesday, April 12, 2022 at UPMC Western Maryland. She was born on March 21, 1946, in Bedford, a daughter of the late Ross and Mary (Zimmers) Holderbaum. On June 27, 1969, in Bedford, she married Dorian A. Cessna who survives along with the following family: a son Ethan M. Cessna of Bedford; a daughter Joan E. Messenger and husband Mark of Frederick, MD; Beth J. Gable and husband Jeffrey of Bedford; nine grandchildren:  Stephen and Hunter Cessna, Garrett and Paige Sturtz, M.J. and Spencer Messenger, Peyton, Colin, and Asher Gable; and one sister Anna Miller of Allentown. She was preceded in death by a brother, David Holderbaum.

Martha attended Messiah Lutheran Church and was a member at Providence Lutheran Church  She worked as a secretary for different places in her career that included the Bedford High School, Community Nursing, and UPMC Bedford Hospital where she retired in 2011.  She was also the secretary of Cumberland Valley Twp. for 42 years.  She enjoyed the bowling league at the Elks, traveling with Bollman Charters, reading and crocheting.

Funeral Services will be held on Tuesday, April 19, 2022, at 11:00 a.m. in the Chapel at the Timothy A. Berkebile Funeral Home in Bedford, with Pastor David Wright officiating.  Burial at Union Cemetery in Centerville.  Friends will be received on Monday from 4 - 8 p.m. and on Tuesday 1hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
