Mary Ann Dodson

Mary Ann Dodson, 75, of New Enterprise died on Saturday September 13, 2025 at UPMC Bedford Hospital. She was born on April 16, 1950, in Hopewell, a daughter of the late William and Dorothy (Nearhood) Smyers. On June 28, 1968, in Cumberland, MD, she married Jack M. Dodson Sr. who survives along with two children: Jack Dodson Jr., and Becky Allison and husband Mike, all of New Enterprise; three grandchildren: Megan and Trevor Allison, and Addison Dodson; one great grandchild, Kolter Allison; two siblings: Sandy Zimmerman of Hopewell and William Smyers of Durham, NC; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by a son, Dustin Dodson, and two sisters, Annette Tew and Patty Reighard.

Mary Ann spent her working life as a baker and cook, with her last job being at Traditions Restaurant & Bakery. She loved to read, work in her flower garden, her monthly breakfast dates with her girlfriends, and baking and cooking for her own friends and family for their weekly Sunday meals. Mary Ann always seemed to turn a bad situation into a good one and was a motherly figure for every single person in her life, never meeting a stranger.

A Funeral Service will be held on Wednesday, September 17, 2025, at 4:00 p.m. in the Chapel at the Timothy A. Berkebile Funeral Home in Bedford with Pastor David Grimes officiating. Burial will be private. Friends will be received on Wednesday from 2 - 4 p.m. at the funeral home. Arrangements by Timothy A. Berkebile Funeral Home in Bedford.
