Marl D. Foor

Marl D. Foor, 86 of Spring Street, Bedford went to be with the Lord on Thursday evening, June 11, 2009 at his home.  He as born May 13, 1923 in East Providence TWP, son of the late Charles M. and Sadie A. (Clark) Foor On November 26, 1948 in Winchester, VA, he married Pauline L. (Holler) and she survives along with two daughters; Donna L., wife of the late Richard Buterbaugh, Mary Ann wife of James R. Keifer and a son Barry L. Foor married to the former Linda L. Pontius all of Bedford.  Also surviving are five grandchildren; Jason, Jeremy, Jessica, Zachary, Garrett, and a sister Dorothy Felton of Breezewood, and many loving nieces and nephews.  He was preceded in death by two sisters, Grace McElhone and Margaret Deremer, and five brothers, Alvin Foor, Paul Foor, Lee Foor, Robert Foor and Gustie Foor.

Mr. Foor was an Army Veteran who served in Germany during World War II. He was a member of Trinity United Church of Christ.  He attended Horological Institute of America where he was certified in practice and theoretical watch making.  He was an instructor and repaired watches at Royal Jewelers in Baltimore, MD.  He returned to Bedford in 1952 with the opening of Kennametal, Inc., where he was employed until his retirement in 1985.

He enjoyed hunting, sports, especially baseball, and truly loved watching his grandchildren in their sporting events.  He played the guitar and mandolin with his friends at different events around the area.  He was a loving husband and father and his support to his family will be greatly missed.

Funeral Services: Monday, June 15, 2009 at 11:00 a.m. in the chapel at Timothy A. Berkebile Funeral Home in Bedford with Rev. Cheryl Ward officiating.  Burial in Bedford County Memorial Park with military honors conducted by the Fort Bedford Honor Guard..  Friends will be received on Sunday, from 4-8 p.m. and on Monday one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.  Our online guest book is available at www.berkebilefuneralhome.com.
