Marjorie Louise (Cottle) Johnson, 79 of, Greencastle, formerly of Hopewell, and Columbia, MD, died Wednesday, February 13, 2008 at her residence.
She was born, on March 11, 1928 in Hopewell, a daughter of the late John Cottle and Della May (Ritchey) Cottle Smith. On June 10, 1949, she married Joseph M. Johnson, who survives along with a daughter: Ruthann Jenkins, and husband Brooke, of Columbia, MD; a son: Joseph W. Johnson, and wife Linda, of Greencastle, two granddaughters: Brookeann and Bryanna Jenkins, both of Columbia; two grandsons: Richard Johnson, of Long Beach, CA, and Joshua Johnson, of Greencastle, a sister: Mildred Cottle Minnick, of Wasilla, Alaska; three brothers: Richard J., Rodney R., and Benjamin R. Cottle, all of Wasilla, Alaska. She was preceded in death by her son: Michael Mark Johnson; a sister: Betty Cottle LePors; and a brother: Gerald C. Cottle.
Mrs. Johnson spent her early life in Yellow Creek. After High School graduation, she took a position at the former Bolling Air Force Base, Washington, D.C. She was later employed by Marriott Corporation in various positions at their Gould Tower office in Rolling Meadows, IL until she retired in 1995. She and her husband, moved to Chicago, IL in 1951 and in 1997 they moved to Columbia, MD where they lived until December 2007 when they moved to live with their son in Greencastle. She was a member of Mount Prospect Methodist Church, Mount Prospect, IL and was active in school PTA.
A memorial service will be held on Monday, April 14, 2008 at 11:30 AM in the Chapel at Timothy A. Berkebile Funeral Home, in Bedford with the Rev. Dr. Paul Manuel officiating, interment will be at Steel Cemetery in Yellow Creek. Friends will be received on Monday, April 14, 2008 from 10:30 until the hour of the service at the funeral home.
