Jan 7, 1933 — Oct 9, 2026

Martinsburg

Margaret K. “Margie” DeArment was welcomed into Heaven on October 9, 2026.

She was born January 1933 on the family farm in Friends Cove to the late Roy V. Koontz and Daisy (Nevitt) Koontz. She graduated from Bedford High School in 1951. Following graduation, she worked as a dental assistant to Doctor Brown, and then transitioned to Hartley Bank as a bank teller in the late 1950’s. While working at the Hartley Bank, she met her future husband, Donald W. DeArment. On October 14, 1959, Don and Margie were married and began their life together.

Margie continued to work in the banking industry until she and Don welcomed their son, Daniel in 1971. From that point forward she focused all of her time and energy on her family and was a wonderful mother and homemaker. Margie was a member of Friends Cove United Church of Christ as a young woman, and later became a member of St. John’s United Church of Christ (now St. John’s Reformed Church), where she was involved in various groups throughout the years. She was also a member of the Bedford Springs Chapter #41 of the Eastern Star.

Margie deeply enjoyed being a mother to Dan and a wife to Don and created a wonderful home for her family. She also enjoyed various hobbies over the years, including gardening, ceramics, crocheting and needlepoint. She loved traveling throughout the United States and spent many summers vacationing at the beach in Stone Harbor, NJ, and in her later years attending musical productions in Branson, MO.

Margie is preceded in death by her husband, Donald W. DeArment, and by her two sisters, Mildred Koontz and Florence Ritchey. She is survived by her son, Daniel DeArment, his wife, Rena DeArment, and her grandchildren, Elise DeArment and Evan DeArment. She is also survived by her two nieces, Linda Shaub and Debra Koontz.
