Margaret Faye (Crawley) Allen-Sleaster

Margaret Faye Allen-Sleaster 81, of Bedford, died Friday, December 29, 2023.  She was born on March 13, 1942 in Bedford a daughter of the late Joseph W. and Martha L.I. (Harris) Crawley.  She is survived by a daughter Kim D. Paynter, of Haddonfield, NJ, and a son Kennard F. Allen Jr., of Bedford; six grandchildren: Andre, Robert, and Christian Paynter, Kendra and Keairra Worthy, and Drelon Christoff; ten great-grandchildren: Alaysha Nevilles, Joshua, Kiro, Lola, Cassidy, Genesis, Christian, Arie, Ava, and Kale Paynter; five siblings: Leslie Dively and husband Charles, of Bedford, Steven Crawley, of Mt. Union, Sarah Patillo, of Altoona, Patricia Henry and husband Shawn, of Bedford; and Lynn “Butch” Crawley, of Bedford; and lifelong friends: Mary Ford, Marilyn Thomas, Kay Cutler, Ollie Williams, Jackie Knighton, and her  friends in Bedford, New Jersey, and Philadelphia.  She was preceded in death by six siblings: Joseph W. Crawley widow Shirley, of Bedford, Sylvia Marshall, Sandra Hobson, Claudia Miller, Shirley Conrad, and an infant Iva Crawley.

Margaret attended Glassboro State University and Antioch University earning a bachelor’s degree in elementary education.  She served on the Pennsauken Board of Education, Cherry Hill Board of Education, and the Camden Board of Education where she retired from after 22 years.  Margaret was a member of the Bedford Church of the Nazarene, American Legion Ladies Auxiliary Post 113, Bedford VFW Post 7527, Order of the Eastern Star Bedford Springs Chapter 41, RSVP Singers, and the Bedford Lioness Club.  She enjoyed painting, knitting, crocheting, crafts, cooking, and baking.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, January 13, 2024 at 1:00 p.m., at the Bedford Church of the Nazarene, 620 W. Penn St, Bedford, with Pastor Mike Adams officiating.  In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to the Bedford Church of the Nazarene, 620 W Penn St., Bedford, PA 15522.  Rest in Peace Faydee.  Arrangements by the Timothy A.
