Madaline F. King

Madaline Flook King of Bedford died Friday, January 21, 2011. She was born in Somerset County on June 22, 1917, the daughter of Benjamin and Helen (Emerick) Maust of Somerset County.
She married Meredith A. Flook in the Berlin Brethren Church August 17, 1941. He preceded her in death February 2, 1971. She married James W King of McKeesport, PA in the Lewinsville Presbyterian Church, McLean, VA on February 10, 1980. He survives her, as well as the following children: Gay Flook Piller married to Paul R. Piller, Molly Flook Woodrow married to Kent H. Woodrow, all of Cincinnati, OH.; Susan Flook Glendinning married to David N. Glendinning of Monterey, VA; James W. King married to Judith (Thompson) King and Susan King Dollish married to George Dollish, all of Pittsburgh, PA; and five loving, beautiful grandchildren and four great grandchildren.
Madaline was one of eleven children and is survived by sisters and brothers Geri Thomas of Titusville, FL; Reon A. Maust of Holiday, FL; Floyd R. Maust and Betty Faust of Somerset, PA; and Lois Owens of Melbourne, FL. Leona Hendershot, Vi Farabaugh, Woodrow B. Maust, Harry B. Maust and Blanche Gallegos preceded her in death.
Wife and homemaker, Madaline worked for the Federal Government General Accounting Office (1939-1944) and the Central Intelligence Agency (1963-1979), retiring with 21 years of government service. She was a former director of the Oakton, VA Girl Scout camp, served as a Deacon and was ordained (1969) an Elder of the Lewinsville Presbyterian Church, McLean, VA; member of NARF (Bedford chapter) and member of the Bedford Presbyterian Church.
A service of celebration will be held at the Bedford Presbyterian Church at 10:00AM on Tuesday, January 25, with Rev. Doug Friant officiating. Burial at the Burkittsville Cemetery in Maryland.
