Lyn K. (Whitfield) Karns

Lyn K. Karns 79, of Centerville, died Tuesday, November 24, 2020.  She was born on November 15, 1941 in Bedford, a daughter of the late Clifton and Mary (Hall) Whitfield.  On June 11, 1962, in Cumberland, MD, she married her husband of over 58 years, Robert Karns who survives along with two sisters: Faun Howsare and husband Richard, and Dorothy Vensel and husband Paul “Smoke”, both of Bedford; and numerous nieces and nephews, who spent many weeks of their childhood on the farm with Lyn and Bob. She was preceded in death by two sisters: Cora Louise Cook, Mary Alice “Frankie” Martz; and a brother Charles Thomas Whitfield.

Lyn was a 1959 graduate of Bedford High School, and then attended Cathermans Business School.  She worked at several places throughout the years including: Ashbridge Oil Company, Howard Johnsons, Donahoe Manor Nursing Home, and ran Lyn’s Gift Shop on the family farm.  She was a faithful attendee at Bedford Bible Church in Bedford, and loved gardening, flowers, and her two faithful feline companions, Buddy Bumpkins and Maggie Mae.  Lyn was well known for her ceramic works, taking her talents to Colonial Courtyard and Donahoe Manor, working with residents painting ceramics.

A memorial service will be held at a later date.  Burial at Union Cemetery, in Centerville.  Arrangements by the Timothy A.
