She was born Thursday, June 18, 1936, the daughter of Charles and Virginia (Logue) Bowers. On September 18, 1953 she married Ronald C. Miller, Sr. who preceded her in death on June 28, 2013. Also preceding her in death was a sister, Shirley Mock, of Roaring Spring and daughters Cara Lynn and Laura Ann. Ron and Jane were most proud of their legacy they left behind which include: Lana, wife of Rodney Fisher, Bedford: Rev. Dr. Ronald Jr., husband of Ann Gohl, State College; Lisa, wife of Scott Bischof, Springhope; Leslie, wife of Sam Whisel, Boiling Springs; Rev. Dr. Robert, husband of Amber Umstead, Lafayette, LA; Louisa Jo, wife of David O’Brien III, Bedford; Dr. Leana, wife of Joby Topper, Bellefonte; and Rory, husband of Michelle Carroll, Altoona. Also surviving are 25 grandchildren and two great granddaughters, as well as a niece and three nephews. Jane was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church and gave a great part of her life in service there, having taught Sunday and Bible School for nearly thirty years. She was also very involved at Saint Thomas School. In 2004, Jane was honored, along with her husband, Ron, as the Bedford Elks ‘Citizen of the Year.’ Jane is fondly remembered for the many things she did for others including: babysitting over the years, nearly one hundred different children, not counting her grandchildren. Her talent for sewing, which was passed down to her daughters, was shared with others to alter or mend clothing. She sewed numerous gowns, mascot and Continental Army costumes, and other fashions too numerous to mention. She always shared her cooking talents at church for festival and funeral dinners. And at holidays or family gatherings, the family never ate before delivering a meal to friend or neighbor in need. She catered many wedding receptions or other parties and was renowned for her potato salad and divinity fudge. Christmas cookies and baked goods were shared all over town and in Santa bags in both Bedford and Everett. Jane provided taxi service for many older folks in town and offered help whenever asked. She was the organizer behind Ron and the chicken barbeques and in charge of selling plants from the backyard greenhouse. She enjoyed entering items at the fair and spending time with children and grandchildren.
