Louis G. Shearer

Louis G. Shearer, 67, of Chambersburg, formerly of Bedford, died Friday, September 12, 2008 at UPMC Bedford Memorial Hospital.  He was born on May 31, 1941, in Pittsburgh, a son of the late Louis and Teresa (Phillips) Shearer.  He is survived by the following family, a son, Louis married to the former Janeanne Martz of Virginia Beach, VA, a daughter, Lisa wife of Rob Wood of San Diego, CA, a daughter, Angeline wife of Shane May of Bedford, a daughter, Andrea Shearer also of Bedford, five grandchildren Olivia, Van, Crystal, Louis, and Rob, one great grandchild Landen, and Former wife, Cela Shearer of Bedford.

He was of the Catholic Faith, a member of the Knights of Columbus in Pittsburgh, and the Bedford Valley Rod & Gun Club. He was an Army Veteran serving with Company C, 1st Battle Group 7th Infantry.  He worked in the optical field for over 45 years, and was named to the American Board of Opticianary, International Academy of Opticianary, and the National Academy of Opticianary.   He owned Pennwood Optical for 10 years and then worked for Allegany Optical in Chambersburg.  Prior to moving to Bedford he worked in Pittsburgh for Jones, Kapp, and Joyce as an office manager and Dispensing Optician.  He was a loving Father and a very giving person and he fought a courageous and dignified battle with cancer.

Funeral Services:  Tuesday, September 16, 2008, at 2:00 PM in the Chapel at Timothy A.
