Lottie P. Way

Lottie P. Way, 89, of Carrol’s Rest Home, Bedford, formerly of New Paris, died Thursday, October 10, 2013 at UPMC Bedford Memorial Hospital. She was born on August 22, 1924, in Bedford, a daughter of the late Ralph and Margaret (Kauffman) Hengst. On April 30, 1941 in Cessna, she married     Harold C. Way and he preceded her in death on May 26, 2004.  She is survived by two sons:   H. Eugene “Buster” Way widower of Linda, of Bedford,  Robert Way married to the former Sue Higgins of Osterburg, a daughter, Connie P. Shaffer of Fishertown, six grandchildren:  Angela Franketti and husband Perry, Jennifer Way, Kerri Easter and husband Jay, Mark Way, Stephen Shaffer and wife Marlene, and Casey Shaffer and fiancé Shae Pendley, two step grandchildren:  Lori Black and husband Steve, Wendi Long and husband Phil, five great grandchildren:  Justin and Jordan Easter, Maria and Michael Franketti and Naiara Shaffer, two step great grandchildren:  Jacob Black and Zoe Long, two sisters:  Arlene Frazier and husband Kermit of Bedford and Geraldine Mock widow of Dennis of Imler.  She was preceded in death by a daughter, Esther Marie Hite, a brother, Ronald P. Hengst, two sisters; Mary Wilson and Edna Holland.

Lottie was a member of the St. Peters Lutheran Church in Osterburg and ladies auxiliary.  She was a former member of the Chestnut Ridge Lioness Club and volunteered with the Red Cross at her church for the blood drives.  She also enjoyed crocheting lap throws for the VA Home in Hollidaysburg.

Funeral Services will be held on Tuesday, October 15, 2013, at 11:00 a.m, at the St. Peters Lutheran Church in Osterburg with Pastor Donna Wolfinger officiating.  Burial at Bedford County Memorial Park.  Friends will be received on Monday, from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. at the Timothy A. Berkebile Funeral Home, in Bedford and one hour prior to the service on Tuesday at the church.  Our online guest book is available at www.berkebilefuneralhome.com.
