Loretta V. Bowser

Loretta V. Bowser, 87, of Hoagland Road, Bedford, died Tuesday, December 31, 2013, at Bedford Memorial Hospital. She was born on November 24, 1926, in Bedford, a daughter of the late Austin L. and Bertha (Ebersole) Smith. On June 22, 1946, in Bellwood, she married Leroy G. Bowser who preceded her in death on February 10, 1973  She is survived by a daughter: Colleen C. Ballou, widow of Robert Ballou, of Charles Town, WV, also surviving is her first husband Keith J. Kavanaugh; daughter, Kathy A. Wenger wife of Tom, of Zellwood, FL; and a son Adam L. Bowser and wife Kathleen, of Woodbridge, VA; three grandchildren: Keith J. Kavanaugh Jr., and wife Michelle, of Purcellville, VA, Kelly Brock, and husband Bartholomew, of Linden, VA, and Michelle Hodgkins, and husband Michael, of St. Leonard, MD; three step-grandchildren: Brian C. Jolley, Erin Sweeney, and Megan C. Jolley; five great-grandchildren: Kassidy, Kaidee, and Keith Kavanaugh III, Emma and Madison Brock; four step-great-grandchildren: Caleb Jolley, Kayla and Ashlin Sweeney, and Damon Blanco.  She was preceded in death by a brother James Smith. The family would like to thank Homestead Company and caretakers Janet Kegg and Katrina Sell for the care they provided.

Funeral Services will be held on Saturday, January 4, 2014, at 1:00 p.m., in the Chapel, at the Timothy A. Berkebile Funeral Home, in Bedford, with Rev. Harold Bowser officiating.
