Lois M. Diehl

Lois Margret Diehl, 91, of Main Road, Bedford, died Wednesday, September 17, 2014 at Memorial Regional Medical Center, in Mechanicsville, VA. She was born on October 29, 1922 in Bedford Twp., a daughter of the late Will and Anna (Zimmers) Leonard. On June 19, 1940 in Louden County, Virginia, she married A. James Diehl who preceded her in death on October 20, 2013. She is survived by two daughters:  Judith “Judy” wife of Todd Lowry,  of Mechanicsville, VA, Sharon, wife of Don Keller,  of Kimberton; one son,  Paul, married to the former Sherry Nave of Bedford; eight grandchildren: Connie, Christy and husband Kenny, Ryan and wife Caitlin, Erica, Zane, Kristofer, Grant, Adam and wife Shanda; five great-grandchildren: Renee and husband D.J., Eric and wife Kristen, Joshua, Arianna, and Mila; four great great grandchildren: Grayson, Kenslie, Ashton, and Jase. She was preceded in death by and infant daughter, Constance, and a sister Grace (Leonard) Heming.

Lois was a member of the Trinity United Church of Christ in Friends Cove and part of the Ladies Aid for many years.  She worked at the Bedford High School Cafeteria for 19 years. She enjoyed reading, playing cards, Scrabble and having family and friends in for delicious cooked meals and was especially well known for her Burnt Sugar Cake.

Funeral services will be private and internment will be held at the convenience of the family.  Arrangements by Timothy A.
