Lois E. Black

June 30, 1928 — March 6, 2011

Lois Evelyn Black, 82 of Lincoln Highway, Bedford, died early Sunday morning, March 6, 2011 at Homewood Retirement Center in Martinsburg.  She was born June 30, 1928 in Cumberland, MD, daughter of the late Russell and Katherine (Stouffer) Corley.  She was married to John T. Black, and he preceded her in death on November 30, 1981.  She is survived by two sons; John T. Black Jr., married to the former Jane Moorehead and James R. Black, married to the former Judy Clark, both of Bedford.  Also surviving are five grandchildren; J.T., Jeff, Joe, Joel and Jared, two great grandchildren, Paige and Johnny.  She was preceded in death by a brother Harry Corley and a sister Norma Zimmerman.

Mrs. Black was a member of St. John’s United Church of Christ in Bedford.  She had worked as a self-employed Beautician.

Funeral Services: Tuesday, March 8, 2011 at 2:00 p.m. in the Chapel at Timothy A. Berkebile Funeral Home in Bedford, with Rev. William Foy officiating.  Burial at Bedford County Memorial Park.  Friends will be received on Monday evening from 5-8 p.m. and ½ hour prior to the service on Tuesday afternoon. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to St. John’s UCC Church, 144 W. John St., Bedford, PA  15522 in her memory.  Our online guest book is available at www.berkebilefuneralhome.com.
