Linda Alice (Smith) Redinger

Linda Alice Redinger, 74, of Bedford, died on Friday, August 23, 2024 at her residence. She was born on February 14, 1950 in Bedford, a daughter of the late John C. and Gladys N. (Naugle) Smith. On December 20, 1975 in Bedford she married Gary R. Redinger who survives along with the following family: one son Joshua C. Redinger of Bedford; and a daughter Margo E. Redinger also of Bedford; three cousins: Donald H. Smith and wife Deanna of Louisville, KY; Linda Hoefing and husband Steven of Shenandoah, IA; Carol Clapper and husband William of New Hope; and one brother-in-law Barry Redinger and wife Melissa of Bedford.  She was preceded in death by paternal grandparents Clayton and Mary Emma Smith; maternal grandparents Emmanuel and Alice Naugle; one sister, Mary Joanne Smith Barrett widower James who survives of Port Charlotte, FL; two cousins:  Buckley Smith and Gary Naugle; and two sister-in-law’s Patricia and Zelma Redinger

Linda graduated from Bedford High School in 1968.  She then attended Beckley Jr. College for two years and then D’Youville College in Buffalo, NY where she received a Bachelors in Education.  She then furthered her education at Frostburg State University for her Masters in Reading.  She worked as the Director and Asst. Director of the Bedford Day Care Center.  She also waitressed during high school at Howard Johnsons, Farmer Browns and the North and South Midway Plaza. She was a member of the Friends Cove UCC Double Brick Church, the Bedford County Reading Group and Bunco Lady.  She was a 3rd generation teacher in her family and a great niece of John C. Smith who surveyed the water reservoir for Bedford.  She also enjoyed crossword puzzles, reading to others young and old and being a steward of the land.

Funeral Services will be held on Tuesday, August 27, 2024, at 11:00 am, at the Friends Cove UCC Double Brick Church, with Rev. Dr. William Bill Shrout officiating.  Burial at Bedford Cemetery.  Friends will be received on Tuesday from 10 -11 am at the church. Arrangements by the Timothy A.
