Lewis E. Eberhart Jr.

Lewis E. Eberhart Jr., 85 of Smithfield St., Bedford, died Saturday, June 4, 2011 at Altoona Hospital.  He was born on September 17, 1925 in Confluence, a son of the late Lewis E. Eberhart Sr., and Agnes Romaine (Bowser) Eberhart, of Addison.  On July 4, 1948 in Frostburg, MD, he married Shirley Louise Whetsell, and she survives along with two sons: Gregory Eugene Eberhart married to the former Teri Koontz and Randall Edgar Eberhart, married to the former Susan Koontz, both of Bedford.  Also surviving are two granddaughters; Heather Rose Eberhart of Bedford and Elicia Marie Eberhart of Chambersburg, and a sister Gladys Lucille Nicklow of Grantsville, MD.  He was preceded in death by a sister Helen Louise Nicola of Grantsville.

Mr. Eberhart was a World War II, navigator with the Army Air Corps, with the rank of 2nd Lieutenant.  He retired as a supervisor from Texas Eastern Gas Pipeline Company after 30 years of service.  He was a member of the Bedford United Methodist Church.

Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, June 8, 2011 at 2:00 p.m. in the chapel at Timothy A. Berkebile Funeral Home in Bedford with Jim Miller officiating.  Burial at Bedford County Memorial Park.  Friends will be received on Tuesday from 2-4 & 6-8 p.m., and a half hour prior to the service on Wednesday afternoon at the funeral home.  Our online guest book is available at www.berkebilefuneralhome.com.
