Leon Crist

Leon Crist, 98, of Bedford, died on Sunday, April 17, 2022 at UPMC Bedford Hospital. He was born on September 10, 1923 in Pavia, a son of the late Nevin Merle and Ada (Burket) Crist. On April 28, 1945 in Cumberland, MD, he married Annabelle (James) Crist who preceded him in death on August 11, 2020.  He is survived by two sons:  Gary Crist and wife Brenda of Waterloo, IN, and Greg Crist and wife Susan of Bedford; 11 grandchildren; numerous great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren; and one brother Terry Crist and wife Diane of Lovely. He was preceded in death by a son, Mike Crist widow Judy who survives of Osterburg; a daughter, Gaye Anne Lingenfelter, a brother, Charles Crist, two sisters, Mary Bernice Ickes, and Norma Crist.

Leon was a member and very active at the Real Life Church in Bedford. Leon was a 1941 Bedford High School graduate and was a WWII Army Veteran.  He worked for Bethlehem Steel in Johnstown until its closing and then worked for PennDot and retired as an inspector. Leon enjoyed fishing, hunting deer and ginseng, watching the pirates, steelers, and local sports.

Funeral Services will be held on Wednesday, April 20, 2022, at 12:00 p.m., at the Real Life Church in Bedford, with Pastor Brian M. Swain officiating.  Burial will be private.  Full military rites will be conducted by the Fort Bedford Honor Guard at the church.  Friends will be received on Wednesday, from 10 - 12 at the church.
