Lena M. (Pizzuti) Chardella

Lena M. Chardella 95, formerly of Bedford, died Wednesday, November 9, 2022 at the Lutheran Home at Hollidaysburg. She was born on February 17, 1927 in Pittsburgh, a daughter of the late John and Lucia (DeRubeis) Pizzuti.  On June 27, 1946 in Pittsburgh she married Anthony C. Chardella who preceded her in death on July 30, 2009.  She is survived by two daughters: Christine Wojcik and husband Pete Sr., and Antionette Chardella, both of Duncansville; two grandchildren: Anita Nearhoof, and Pete Wojcik Jr., and wife Renee; six great-grandchildren: Brennan, Katrina, Drake, Demetrius, D’Angelo, and Petey; two great-great-grandchildren: Luke and Ella, a sister Antionette Farnsworth, of Plum Borough, and many nieces and nephews.  She was preceded in death by two brothers and two sisters.

Lena enjoyed keeping her home clean, cooking Italian food, and making baked goods to share with her friends and family.  She loved being with her family and caring for them.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Monday, November 14, 2022 at 10:00 a.m., at the St. Thomas Catholic Church, with Fr. Richard Tomkosky Celebrant.  Burial at St. Thomas Catholic Cemetery.  Friends will be received on Monday, from 9:00 – 9:45 a.m., at the Timothy A. Berkebile Funeral Home, in Bedford.  In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to the St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital. Our online guestbook is available at www.berkebilefuneralhome.com.
