Laura M. Semanek

Laura M.  Semanek, 89, of West Pitt Street Bedford, died Sunday, July 20, 2003 at UPMC Bedford Memorial Hospital.  She was born on May 14, 1914 in Bedford, A Daughter of the late Allen Ross and Nellie Mae (Imler) Sellers.   In 1933 in Greensburg,  she married Robert Semanek and he preceded her in death on July 15, 1972. She is survived by 2 sons, Allen Edward Semanek married former  Nancy Snyder of Everett, and Terry Lee Semanek married to the former Bonnie Brindle of Bedford, 5 grandchildren Karen, Allan, Lee, Erik, & Amy, and 2 great grandchildren

She graduated valedictorian of Bedford High School class of 1934, she was a member of St. John's UCC Church and wrote a history of the church dating back to 1758.  She formed the Bedford County Chapter Daughters of the American Revolution, helped to organize the Pioneer Historical Society, and worked there for 28 years, and was a member of  the local chapter of the Colonial Dames.

Funeral Services:  Wednesday, July 23, 2003, at 11:00 AM  from the  Timothy A. Berkebile Funeral Home, in Bedford, with the Rev. Steven Voelker officiating.  Burial in Bedford County Memorial Park.  Friends will be received on Tuesday from 7-9 PM, at the funeral home.
