Larry W. "Buck" Winegardner

Larry W. “Buck” Winegardner, 81, of Manns Choice, died on Thursday, December 4, 2025 at UPMC Bedford Hospital. He was born on January 15, 1944 in Schellsburg, a son of the late John H. and Virginia J. (Miller) Winegardner. On June 22, 1963 in Rummel, he married Alice A. (Bostock) Winegardner and she preceded him in death on November 29, 2025, five days shy of Buck’s passing after sharing 62 years of marriage together. He is survived by two daughters: Karen L. Martin and husband David of Berlin, and Connie S. Will and husband Patrick of New Baltimore; a son: Steve Winegardner and companion Amber of Schellsburg; ten grandchildren: Louis Martin widower of Kristin, William Martin, Sarah Martin, Timothy Martin and wife Ariel, Krista Beegle and husband Luke, Ryan and Alyssa Will, Bradley Winegardner and wife Alexandra, Kyle Winegardner and wife Hannah, and Leah Winegardner; nine great-grandchildren: Austin, Weston, Levi, Alexis, Jackson, Milena, Madelynn, Nicholas, Gabriella, and three more on the way; five brothers and sisters: Barbara McCreary widow of John of Centreville, MD, Ronald Winegardner of Schellsburg, Peggy Hinson widow of David of Harrisburg, Robert Winegardner of Schellsburg, and William Winegardner of Mans Choice. He was preceded in death by a brother, Ricky Winegardner, and a sister, Donna Hockenberry.

Buck was a 1962 graduate of Chestnut Ridge High School and worked as a laborer at Hedstrom from 1964 until his retirement in 2004. He was an active member at Helixville Church. He enjoyed hunting, reading, old time western, gardening, picking flowers, and spending time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, December 9, 2025 at 11 a.m. in the Chapel at the Timothy A. Berkebile Funeral Home in Bedford with Rev. Clyde Lasure officiating. Burial will be private. Friends will be received on Monday, December 8, 2025 from 5 – 7 p.m. at the funeral home and on Tuesday one hour prior to the service.
