Larry R. Shippey

Larry R. Shippey, 75, of Manns Choice, died on Wednesday, January 25, 2023 at James E. Van Zandt VA Medical Center in Altoona. He was born on July 26, 1947 in Juniata Twp., a son of the late Raymond and Mildred (Lafferty) Shippey. On December 26, 1970 in Bedford, he married Karen (Thompson) Shippey and she preceded him in death on October 9, 2020. He is survived by a daughter Marsha Blue and husband Richard of Johnstown; one granddaughter Amber Blue of Pittsburgh; one brother Tom Shippey widower of Barbara of Manns Choice; two sisters Carol Jenkins and husband Robert of Saxton; and Kathy Hoover and husband Bill of Bedford.  He was preceded in death by one brother Robert Shippey

Larry was an Army veteran that served in Vietnam.  He was a member of the Trinity United Church of Christ in Manns Choice and retired from Kennametal.  He was a member and EMT at Shawnee Valley Ambulance Service, Shawnee Valley Fire Company, Bedford American Legion Post # 113, and past commander for 12 years at the Bedford VFW Post #7527.  He also took care of Dry Ridge Cemetery.

Funeral Services will be held on Monday, January 30, 2023 at 11:00 a.m. at the Trinity United Church of Christ in Manns Choice with Pastor Cheryl Ward officiating. Full military rites conducted by the Fort Bedford Honor Guard.  Friends will be received on Sunday from 2- 4 and 6 -8 p.m. at the Timothy A.
