Kenneth Mortimore

Kenneth Mortimore, 84, of Oppenheimer Road Bedford, died Thursday, April 3, 2008 at UPMC Bedford Memorial Hospital.  He was born on August 30, 1923 in Charlesville, a son of the late William and Ada (Mowery) Mortimore. On June 27, 1981 in Bedford, He married Hazel (Huntsman) Smith and she survives along with the following family, son, William K. Mortimore and wife Delorise of Highspire, son, John M. Mortimore and wife Ellen of Harrisburg, step-son, Jack E. Smith of Friends Cove, step-daughter, Patricia wife of James Wertz of Bedford, step-son, Bruce Smith Jr. and wife Sharon of New Paris, four grandchildren, five step-grandchildren, six great grandchildren, seven step-great grandchildren.  He was preceded in death by two brothers:  Robert and Melvin Mortimore, three sisters:  Ruth Desh, Ethel Smith, Edna Hillegass and two infant brothers, and one step-grandson Mark Smith.

He attended the Chestnut Ridge Independent Fellowship Church in Fishertown.  He worked for the Pennsylvania Turnpike Commission for 17 years and prior to that worked as a foreman for Penn Dot.  He was a member of the Bedford Masonic Lodge # 320 F&AM.

Funeral Services: Sunday, April 6, 2008, at 2:00 PM, in the Chapel at Timothy A. Berkebile Funeral Home, in Bedford, with the Rev. Daniel Oldham officiating.  Burial at Messiah Lutheran Church Cemetery.  Friends will be received on Saturday from 2-4 and 7-9 at the funeral home.  Our online guest book is available at www.berkebilefuneralhome.com
