Kathryn L. Miller

Kathryn L. (Sellers) Miller, 91, formerly of Bedford, died on Wednesday, February 8, 2012 at her daughters home in Highland Village, TX.  She was born on, March 17, 1920 a daughter of the late Jordan A. and Anne Wiley Hausman Kerr of Manns Choice.  In 1942 she married her first husband John “Jack” Job Sellers and he preceded her in death on January 2, 1975, then in 1984 she married her second husband Ralph V. Miller and he preceded her in death on August 18, 1987.  Kathryn is survived by a daughter Jacalyn Sellers Haugen and husband Allan of Highland Village, TX, two step daughters:  Linda Welch of Ellicot City, MD and Becky McConnell of Maryland, two granddaughters:  Johanna Love of Burleson, TX and Katie Favara of Arlington, TX, four step-grandchildren:  Matthew Sheriff, of Rancho Palose Verdes, CA, John McConnell of Parkton, NC, Scott Sheriff of Columbia, MD, Jennifer Gilbertson of Mt. Airey, MD, 18 great grandchildren and five nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by a step- son Jerry Miller and a sister Mae Beltz.

Kathryn was a graduate of Manns Choice High School, the co-owner of Sellers Jewelry Store in Hyndman and Sellers Cut Rate Merchandise Store in Schellsburg.  Kathryn managed the first school cafeteria in Manns Choice and also worked at the Manns Choice Post Office.  Kathryn and her first husband Jack were hired in 1962 as warden and matron of the Bedford County Jail. She worked at the jail for 17 years. Kathryn worked at the Bedford Arts Council for 15 years and then retired at the age of 89.  She enjoyed gardening, cooking, reading and needlework.  She had recently moved to Texas to live with her daughter in June 2011.

Funeral Services will be held on Saturday, February 11, 2012, at 1:00 p.m., in the Chapel at Timothy A. Berkebile Funeral Home, in Bedford, with the Rev. Joseph Puleo officiating.  Burial at Mt.
