Kathryn E. Hipson

Kathryn E. “Beth” Hipson 88 of E. Penn St., Bedford died Tuesday August 7, 2007 at UPMC Bedford memorial Hospital.  She was born July 17, 1919 in Bedford a daughter of the late Harry and Mildred (Hershberger) Gallaher.  On July 18, 1958 in Bedford she married john E.  “Jack” Hipson and he preceded her in death on February 27, 1992.  DShe is survived by a son Edward P. Hipson married to the former Maryalice E. Herrit of Bedford and two step-children  John E. Hipson of Halifax, Nova Scotia and Alberta wife of Mike Spearman of Franklin, NC, three grandchildren, four step grandchildren and five step great grandchildren and two nephews.  She was preceded in death by a sister Margaret louise wife of phillip Donahue of Rockville, MD.

Mrs. Hipson was amember of the Bedford United Methodist church, the Bedford County Garden club and the Bedford American Legion Post 113.  She served as a WAC during World War II driving ambulance from Washington D.C. to Boston and served as a driving instructor for youg soldiers.  After her military service she was the buyer for the Turnpike Howard Johnson gift shop for many years.

Memorial Services:  Saturday 11:00 AM at the Bedford United Methodist Church with David Cubbison officiating.  Burial in the Bedford Cemetery.  There will be no visitation.  Arrangements by Timothy A.
