Katherine S. Divers

Katherine S. “Katie” Divers, 94, of Bedford, died Wednesday, April 22, 2015, at Bedford Colonial Courtyard.  She was born on February 4, 1921, in Emmitsburg, MD, a daughter of the late Martin I. and Bessie M. (Long) Harbaugh.  She married Eugene E. Divers, who preceded her in death on January 26, 1984.  She is survived by three sons: Charles Ramsburg, and wife Peggy of Frederick, MD, Thomas Ramsburg, and wife Sandra, of Newtown Square, PA, and Gavin Divers, and wife, Pamela, of Lynchburg, VA; 10 grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; close niece, Linda Icard and children, close nephew John Ramsburg, and numerous nieces and nephews.  She was preceded in death by five sisters: Edith, Nora, Clara, Bessie and Martha; five brothers: Albert, Harvey, Glenn, Joseph, and Clarence, and her first husband, Charles E. Ramsburg.

Katie was a member of the St. John’s UCC Church.  She worked at Ed’s Steakhouse for several years, before retiring from Hedstrom Corp, in 1985.  She enjoyed playing Bridge, gardening, knitting, crocheting, going to dinner with her friends around town, and was a great seamstress.  She traveled to Europe, and enjoyed her trips to Florida.  She will be remembered for her quick wit and sense of humor.

A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, July 25, 2015, at 12:00 p.m., in the Chapel, at the Timothy A. Berkebile Funeral Home, in Bedford, with Pastor Brady Plummer, officiating. Friends will be received on Saturday, from 10:00 a.m., until the hour of the service at the funeral home.  In lieu of flowers those wishing may make memorial contributions in Katie’s name to: St. John’s United Church of Christ, 144 W.
