Karen Sue (Way) Van Pelt, 45 of Kennedyville, MD, formerly of Bedford, died September 6, 2012 at her home. She was born on March 9, 1967 in Bedford. She was the daughter of Anna Belle (Plummer) Way of Bedford and the late Glenn S. Way, who preceded her in death on September 8, 1985.
She is survived by her husband of 12 years, David G. Van Pelt, III; her daughters, Brittney Rowe of St. Thomas, Samantha Paige and Nickie Sue Van Pelt of Kennedyville, MD, 2 step-sons, David Van Pelt IV and Jake Van Pelt also of Kennedyville, MD; a grandaughter, Mahelia Leigh Rowe a brother David G. Way of Bedford, and a nephew Brian David Way. She was a 1985 graduate of Bedford High School, a 1987 graduate of Hagerstown Business College and a 2010 graduate of Chesapeake College becoming a Registered Nurse. Karen worked as a Home Health Nurse for Amedisys in Elkton, MD and the Dover, DE Hospital. She loved horseback riding, swimming, hiking, camping with the Girl Scouts, and active with 4-H, helping her daughter, Samantha show cows. Karen was a member at St. John’s U.C.C. in Bedford.
Funeral Services will be held on Friday, September 21, 2012 at 11:00 a.m. in the chapel at Timothy A. Berkebile Funeral Home in Bedford with Brady Plummer officiating. Friends may be received on Friday, September 21 from 9:00 a.m. until the hour of the service at the funeral home. Burial at Bedford County Memorial Park.
