Joseph H. Howard

Joseph H. Howard, 84, of Markwood Drive, Bedford, died on Monday June 18, 2012 at his residence.  He was born on August 12, 1927, in Derry, a son of the late Joseph N. and Alice B. (Jenkins) Howard.  On August 11, 1951, in Latrobe, he married Geneveive Guzik, who preceded him in death on March 31, 2007.  He is survived by a daughter, Emily Marie wife of Brian David Berkey, of Elkton, MD, two grandsons, John H. Berkey and wife Jennifer, and Steven H. Berkey and wife Erin.  He was preceded in death by a brother Charles T. Howard, and a sister, Kathryn Jane Anthony McQuire.

Joseph was a member of the St. Thomas Catholic Church.  He retired from Kennametal in 1986 after 40 years as the manager of materials.  He was a Boy Scout Leader, former Bedford Jaycee and Areomodlers Club, and enjoyed flying model airplanes.

A Funeral Mass will be held on June 20, 2012, at 11:00 am, at the St. Thomas Catholic Church, with Father Donald Dusza Celebrant.  Burial at held at St. Thomas Catholic Cemetery.  Friends will be received on Wednesday at the funeral home from 10:00 until the time we leave for the service at the church.  Arrangements by the Timothy A.
