Joseph F. Fox

Joseph F. Fox 96, of Bedford, died Wednesday, January 1, 2025 at Victoria House at Springhouse Estates.  He was born on August 10, 1928 in Caperton, WV, a son of the late Raleigh and Effie (Shoemaker) Fox.  On August 8, 1950 in Fayetteville, WV he married Phyllis H. (Holliday) Fox who preceded him in death on June 11, 2015.  He is survived by two granddaughters: Sophie Jo and Stella Grace Fox and their mother Kellie Coll, of Pittsburgh, and numerous nieces and nephews.  He was preceded in death by a daughter Teresa Gale Fox, and six siblings: Bill Fox, Sam Fox, John Fox, Helen Stone, Clara Williams, and Midge Peterson.

Joe graduated high school in Huntington, WV and then went on to serve in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. As a Corporal with the 97th Signal Corp, he was stationed in Stutgartt, Germany and received a Good Conduct Medal and Service Medal. After being honorably discharged he received his associates degree from Beckley College in 1957, and worked as a salesman and accountant for Blackburn-Russell Co until his retirement in 1991.  He was a member of the Bedford Methodist Church, Bedford Lions Club, Bedford Elks Lodge #1707, and Big Possums.  He was an avid coin collector, and carpenter who made many Christmas decorations for friends and family.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, January 4, 2025 at 11:00 a.m., in the Chapel at the Timothy A. Berkebile Funeral Home, in Bedford, with Stan Howes officiating.    Friends will be received on Saturday from 10:00 a.m., until the hour of the service at the funeral home.  In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to: Bedford Lions Club, c/o Dan Kerr, 811 Echo Vale Drive, Bedford, PA 15522.  Our online guestbook is available at www.berkebilefuneralhome.com.
