Joseph C. "Bud" Ritchey Jr.

Joseph C. “Bud” Ritchey Jr., 96, of Bedford, died on Wednesday July 10, 2024 at Bedford Skilled Nursing. He was born on August 20, 1927 in Bedford, a son of the late Jospeh C. and Grace Edna (May) Ritchey Sr. On October 28, 1966 in Bedford, he married Florence "Flo" (Koontz) Ritchey who preceded him in death on July 27, 2019.  He is survived by three nephews: William Ritchey Jr. and wife Mary of New Paris; Wayne Ritchey also of New Paris; Donald Arnold and fiancé Janie Lemley of Bedford; two nieces:  Sue Ellen Miller of Jamestown, NC;  and Ann Morgan and husband Mark of LaVale, MD;  and many great nephews and great nieces.  He was preceded in death by one brother, William Ritchey Sr. widow Rena who survives of New Paris, and one sister, Mary Ellen Arnold.

Bud served in the Army during WWII.  He attended church with his wife at the Friends Cove United Church of Christ in Bedford, and was a lifelong farmer and also drove truck for Eastern Express.  He was a member of the Bedford Masonic Lodge #320 F&AM and the Chestnut Ridge Bow and Gun Club.  He enjoyed shooting at competitions.

A graveside service will be held on Saturday, July 13, 2024, at 2:30 p.m. at the Friends Cove UCC Cemetery in Bedford with Rev. Dr. William Bill Shrout officiating.  Full military rites will be conducted by the Fort Bedford Honor Guard. Arrangements by Timothy A.
