Joni L. Allen

Joni Lynn Allen, 49, of Briar Valley Road, Bedford, died peacefully, Monday August 3, 2015, with her family by her side.  She was born on October 16, 1965, in Bedford, a daughter of the late Vernon Bender, and JoAnn (Mowry) Bender, surviving of Bedford.  On February 18, 1995, in Fishertown, she married Wm. Glenn Allen, her husband of 23 years, who survives along with two daughters: Katie wife of Scott Suiters, and Stephanie Allen, both of Bedford; a step-daughter, Amanda Thomas, of Altoona; a granddaughter, Harper Suiters; two step-grandchildren: Jamaine Thomas, and Mataya McNeal; a brother Richard Bender wife Ellen, of Alum Bank; a sister, Sandra wife of Joel Hershberger, of Bedford; two step-brothers: Lorne Mock and wife Deanna, of Schellsburg, and Travis Graham, of Texas.  She was preceded in death by her step-father, Art Mock.

Joni was a 1983 graduate of Chestnut Ridge High School, and graduated from Allegany College of Maryland with a degree in Nursing.  She worked as a Registered Nurse for the PA Dept of Corrections at SCI Smithfield, in Huntingdon.  She enjoyed decorating, and remodeling her farm house with her husband Glenn, looking forward to the day it would be all finished.  Joni will be remembered as a loving mother and grandmother.

Funeral services will be held on Thursday, August 6, 2015, at 11:00 a.m., in the Chapel, at the Timothy A. Berkebile Funeral Home, in Bedford, with Jim Miller, officiating.  Burial at Bedford Cemetery.  Friends will be received on Wednesday, from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m., at the funeral home.  Our online guestbook is available at www.berkebilefuneralhome.com
