John C. “Jack” Wyman, 97, of Schellsburg, died on Tuesday, April 15, 2025 at Homewood at Springhouse Estates. He was born on October 14, 1927, in Brooklyn, NY a son of the late Cecil J. and Ethel (Gibson) Wyman. On September 4, 1949 in Brooklyn, NY at St. Edmund’s Catholic Church, he married Genevieve "Penny" (LaGrua) Wyman who survives along with the following family: three daughters Kathleen Oakley and husband William of Savannah, GA; Susan Casaceli widow of Joseph of Alum Bank; Mary Steele and husband William of Browns Mills, NJ; five sons John Wyman Jr. and wife Kathleen of Littleton, CO; Mark Wyman and wife Susan of Greenwood Village, CO; Matthew Wyman of Springfield, IL; James Wyman and wife Rebecca of Gibsonia; and Paul Wyman and wife Shelly of Kokomo, IN; and 62 grandchildren and great grandchildren and that includes all the ones he adopted with his wife. He was preceded in death by a brother Kenneth Wyman.
John graduated from St. Regis High School in Brooklyn, NY in 1945, and then was drafted into the Army during WWII. After the Army he went to school for an electrical trade and repaired televisions. 1n 1953 he started working for Bell Laboratories in New Jersey and retired after 30 years with them. Jack was a member of the St. Thomas Catholic Church, and enjoyed going on mission trips.
Funeral Mass will be held on Tuesday, April 22, 2025, at 10:00 a.m. at the St. Thomas Catholic Church in Bedford with Father Richard Tomkosky Celebrant. Burial at St. Thomas Catholic Cemetery with full military rites conducted by the Fort Bedford Honor Guard. Friends will be received on Monday from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. at the Timothy A.
