John V. Waltman, 85, of Victoria Ave. Everett, formerly of Bedford, died on November 13, 2015, at UPMC Bedford Memorial Hospital. He was born on December 1, 1929, in Hyndman, a son of the late Otis V. and Grace (Buchanon) Waltman. On May 16, 1955, in San Antonio, TX, he married Anna (Lehman) Waltman who survives along with the following family: son, Jeffrey L. Waltman married to the former Kathleen Kovach of Rural Valley; son, Stephen B. Waltman married to the former Jackie Bowser of Bedford; 6 grandchildren: Alyssa wife of Will Greathouse, Lauren Altmeyer, Lance Waltman and wife Krisitna, Adam Day and wife Destiny, Brandon Day and wife Amber, and Ryan Day and wife Jolie; Nine great grandchildren; a brother, Charles Waltman and wife Janet of San Antonio, TX; . He was preceded in death by a brother, Royce Waltman wife Carole Kauffman-Waltman who survives of Indianapolis, IN and a sister, Alice Lee Miller.
John was an Army Veteran, a member of the Bedford Presbyterian Church and taught English for 33 years at Bedford High School. He was a professional baseball player who pitched in the minor league system for the former St. Louis Browns. He was an avid Tennis player, golfer and Pirate’s Fan.
A memorial services will be held on Wednesday, November 18, 2015, at 12:00 p.m. at the Bedford Presbyterian Church, with Rev. Doug Friant officiating. Burial will be held at the convenience of the family. Friends will be received on Wednesday, from 10:00 a.m. until the hour of the service at the church. Arrangements by the Timothy A.
