John H. Tornatore

John H. Tornatore, 83, of Bedford, died on Thursday, April 30, 2026 at Bedford Post Acute. He was born on December 5, 1942 in Clearfield, a son of the late Dr. Maximo J. Tornatore Sr. and Bernice (Gregory) Tornatore. On May 2, 1964 in Clearfield, he married Sandra (Rhone) Tornatore and she survives along with a son: Jeffrey Tornatore and wife Kate of Port St. Lucie, FL; two daughters: Beth Barbara and husband Mike, and Cara Tornatore Beach, both of Winchester, VA; five grandchildren: Sophia, Cecelia, Josey, Shain, and Jonathan; one great-granddaughter: Palmer; four brothers: Robert Tornatore and wife Lola of Morrisdale, Gregory Tornatore and wife Suzie of Smith Mountain Lake, VA, Thomas Tornatore and partner Shelley Steffano of Dayton, OH, and Fred Tornatore and wife Kate of Centre Hall; a sister: Peggy Rodi and husband Nick of Fairport, NY; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by a sister, Susan McCracken Hendricks and two brothers, Maximo J. Tornatore Jr. and William A. Tornatore.

John graduated from Clearfield High School and attended St. Francis University, where he obtained his Bachelor’s degree, as well as Frostburg University for his Master’s degree. He served in the U.S. Army from 1967 to 1969. He worked as the HR director for 20 years at Clearfield Hospital, and worked an additional 20 years at UPMC Bedford Hospital after relocating to the area. He was a member of St. Thomas Catholic Church and a board member and volunteer at Old Bedford Village for many years. He was an avid golfer, and his family was his life, always coming first.

Mass will be held on Saturday, May 16, 2026 at 10:30 a.m. at the St. Thomas Catholic Church in Bedford, with Father Richard Tomkosky Celebrant. Burial Private. Friends will be received on Friday from 5 – 7 p.m. at the Timothy A. Berkebile Funeral Home in Bedford.
