John W. “Johnny” Simons Jr. 67, of Cortland Drive, New Paris, died Thursday, November 19, 2009 at UPMC Presbyterian Hospital in Pittsburgh. He was born on October 17, 1942 in Cumberland Valley Twp, a son of the late John Wade and Grace (Miller) Simons. On August 28, 1971, he married Susan K. Sipes. She survives along with two sons Christopher J. Simons of New Paris, and Jason T. Simons married to the former Sonya Magill also of New Paris, one granddaughter Bailey Olivia, three sisters, Betty Price of Bedford, Hazel Amos of Alum Bank, and Donna wife of Rodney Beegle of Bedford. He was preceded in death by two brothers William and Walter Simons.
He retired after 37 years with Hedstrom and then went to work part time for Enterprise Rental Car. Johnny was an avid fisherman, loved his Jack Russels, Nascar, and going to the races at Bedford Speedway. He was a loving husband, father and grandfather.
Funeral Services and burial will be private. Friends will be received on Saturday, November 21 from 2-4 and 7-9 PM, at the Timothy A. Berkebile Funeral Home in Bedford.
