John Sciranko Jr.

John Sciranko Jr., 87, of Arandale Street, Bedford, died after a brief illness on Wednesday, April 8, 2009 at his residence.  He was born on July 13, 1921, in Central City, a son of the late John and Anna (Kochera) Sciranko.  On October 4, 1945 in Bound Brook, NJ he married  Rose Marie Schab and she survives along with a son, Ron, married to the former Patricia Knoll of Huntersville, NC, a daughter, Sharon, wife of Dave Wertz of Bedford, two grandchildren:  Justin Sciranko and wife Tonya of Concord, NC and Jenica Sciranko and fiancé Derek Kilburn, of Hong Kong, China, two sisters, Pauline Gorka of Union, NJ and Kathryn Bowman and husband David of Manns Choice, and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by two brothers, Mike and Steve Sciranko, one sister Margaret Sciranko, two step-brothers, George and Andy Sciranko, and three step sisters, Lizzie Maust, Mary Tesorieo and Anna Rood.

He was a Marine Veteran serving in WWII.  He was a member of the Trinity Lutheran Church in Bedford, the Bedford American Legion Post # 113 and Bedford Masonic Lodge # 320.  He was the owner of J. Sciranko Motors in Bedford and prior to that had worked for the Ford Garage.  John was a fun-loving man who enjoyed having a good time with family and friends.  He will be missed by all.

Funeral Services:  Saturday, April 11, 2009, at 11:00 a.m. in the Chapel at Timothy A. Berkebile Funeral Home, Inc. with the Pastor Raymond E. Short officiating.  Burial at Bedford County Memorial Park with full military rites conducted by the Fort Bedford Honor Guard. Friends will be received on Friday from 4-8 PM at the funeral home.
