John G. James Sr.

John G. James Sr., 64, of Centennial Road, Bedford, died Wednesday, November 19, 2014, at UPMC Bedford Memorial Hospital.  He was born on September 10, 1950, in Bedford, a son of the late John and Dorothy (Ritchey) James.  On September 27, 1969, at the Centerville Methodist Church, he married Barbara K. (Zembower) James, who preceded him in death on October 2, 2006.  He is survived by the following family: son John James Jr., of Bedford, Kristina Fulton, of Bedford, and Jay James, and friend Tylor Martz, of Somerset; two grandchildren: Alyssa James and Christopher Fulton; one great-grandson, Hunter James; six sisters: Beverly Shaffer wife of Perry, of Schellsburg, Shirley Filer, wife of Ron, of Pittsburgh, Carol Marschall, wife of Stuart, of Olathe, KS, Dorothy James, of Phoenix, AZ, Patricia Hough wife of Arthur, of Richmond, VA, and Connie Mitchel, and wife Bob, of Bedford; and numerous nieces and nephews.  He was preceded in death by two sisters: Debbie R, and Susan K.

John was a farmer, a member of the NRA, and enjoyed hunting and fishing.   He liked cooking, canning, gardening, and loved spending time with his family, and great-grandson, Hunter.

A Memorial Service will be held on Monday, November 24, 2014, at 11:00 a.m., in the Chapel at the Timothy A. Berkebile Funeral Home, in Bedford, with Pastor Virgil Frazier, officiating.  Burial at Woods Church Cemetery.  Friends will be received on Monday, from 10:00 a.m., until the hour of the service, at the funeral home.  Our online guestbook is available at www.berkebilefuneralhome.com
