Dr. John J. Isaacson, 90, of Bedford, died Monday, March 28, 2005 at Hollidaysburg VA Home. He was born on December 20, 1914 in Brooklin, NY. A Son of the late Simon and Molly (Cohen) Isaacson. On October 30, 1943 he married Cora Young who survives and is residing at Donahoe Manor, also a son Judge Rodger J. Isaacson and wife Cheryl of Klamath Falls, Oregon, and 4 grandchildren Molly, Peter, Matthew and Steven. He was preceded in death by 1 son James Reed Young Isaacson, and 3 brothers Charles, Leo and Carl and 1 sister Jaye.
He was a member of the St. James Episcopal Church, there he served as a choir member and as secretary of the Vestry. He was a member of both Meyersdale and Bedford Rotary Clubs, and the Meyersdale American Legion. He was a graduate of the University of Pittsburgh School of Dentistry Class of 1945 and a member of OKU honorary society. He was a Veteran of the US Army; he went in as a dentist and served in Germany. He spent most of his career practicing dentistry in Meyersdale and later specialized in orthodonics, serving patients in Meyersdale and in Bedford. He then retired in 1982 and moved to Orchard Heights in Bedford.
Funeral Services, Friday, April 1, 2005, at 2:30 PM from the St. James Episcopal Church in Bedford, with The Rev’d Philip Houghton officiating. Burial in Bedford Cemetery. Friends will be received on Thursday from 7-9 PM, at the Timothy A. Berkebile Funeral Home in Bedford. Those wishing may make contributions to the St. James Episcopal Church, 309 South Richard Street, Bedford, Pa. 15522, in Dr. Isaacson’s name.
