John E. Elliott, 93, of Bedford, died Sunday, January 23, 2011 at Donahoe Manor Nursing Home. He was born on January 5, 1918, in Saxton, a son, of the late David D. and Margaret (Webster) Elliott. On September 23, 1949 in Winchester, VA, he married Evelyn M. Law and she survives along two daughters, Diane L. wife of George Superack of Colombia , TN, and Joanne M. widow of Ronald Weigel of Bolivar, one son, John R. married to the former Lynn Bowers of Bedford, four grandchildren: Chali Roberts, Melanie Superack, Megan Cornell, and Jordan Elliott, three great grandchildren: Gabriella, Cullen and Brailey, and one brother Neal Elliott of San Mateo, CA. He was preceded in death by four brothers: Samuel, Andrew, James, and Thomas Elliott, two sisters: Elizabeth Ruth and Margaret Whallett, three half brothers: William, David, and Hamilton Elliott.
Funeral Services will be held on Friday, January 28, 2011, at 11:00 a.m., at the Bedford Presbyterian Church with the Rev. Doug Friant officiating. Burial at Everett Cemetery with full military rites conducted by the Fort Bedford Honor Guard. Friends will be received on Thursday from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m., at the Timothy A. Berkebile Funeral Home in Bedford.
