John W. Clapper Jr., 68, of Bedford, passed away peacefully at his residence on Sunday, January 5, 2025. Born on June 20, 1956, in Bedford, he was the son of the late John W. and Marietta (Staily) Clapper Sr. John is survived by his children, Kristin Marlowe and husband Alex of Louisville, KY, and Travis Clapper of Shelton, WA; three cherished grandchildren, Jared and Mackenzie Marlowe, and Caiya Clapper; his brother, Mark A. Clapper and wife Judy; and three nephews, Justin Clapper and wife Shayla of Buffalo Mills, and Jordan and Jarrod Clapper, also of Buffalo Mills.
Known for his fun personality and quick sense of humor, John had a gift for sparking a smile or laugh wherever he went. He was the life of any party, bringing joy and lightheartedness to those around him. A proud member of the Moose Lodge, he earned the esteemed Fellowship Degree of Honor. John also loved hunting, fishing, and spending time outdoors, embracing the beauty of nature in all he did.
John worked hard throughout his life and retired from Rockland Manufacturing Co., where he was a dedicated and valued team member. He was also a talented musician and a long-standing member of the Prism Band, sharing his love of music with countless audiences. Additionally, John had a passion for sports and was proud to have coached two women’s state softball championship teams, inspiring and guiding his players with his energy and dedication.
John’s warmth, humor, and zest for life will be deeply missed by his family, friends, and all who had the privilege of knowing him.
