Joan J. Betts 81 of N. Juliana St., Bedford, died Sunday, November 23, 2008 at Donahoe Manor Nursing Home. She was born January 9, 1927 in Brownsville, daughter of the late Royal E. and Hazel (Warne) Jensen. On December 22, 1950 she married Russell D. Betts and he preceded her in death on March 9, 1978. She is survived by four children: Joan E. Wife of Thomas Bailey of Ft. Meade, FL, David C. Betts married to the former Marlene Miller of Bedford, Paula R. wife of James Redmond of New Paris and Kelly A. wife of Phil Behm of Arden, NC, 13 grandchildren and three great grandchildren. Also surviving is a brother Boyd Jensen and wife Lois of Roanoke,VA and a sister Barbara wife of Paul Whitsel of Mt. Union.
Mrs. Betts was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church. She was a graduate of Juniata College and had worked as a registered Dietitian at Bedford Memorial Hospital for 15 years and then at St. Petersburg General Hospital in Florida until her retirement.
Funeral Services: Wednesday, 11:00 AM at the Trinity Lutheran Church in Bedford with Rev. Raymond E. Short officiating. Burial in the Garden Sanctuary Cemetery in Seminole, FL.
